Silver Sands McLaren Vale Shiraz 2020

Sourced from our Aldinga vineyard on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula known for its white sands and clear waters. The vineyard sits on fertile Ngaltinga clay soils where vines meet the sea. A Mediterranean climate and cooling breezes between the Mount Lofty Ranges and Gulf St Vincent create ideal conditions for exceptional Shiraz. It features grey and green clays. The vineyard soils require careful watering as they can crack during the hot summers.

Due to the heavy, moisture retaining clay, it heavily influences the style of wines produced here due to the moisture retention which are highly prized by local winemakers. Our dedicated team work together to transform and create truly remarkable wines from this small sub region of McLaren Vale. Unique to their origin, we limit fruit yields and encourage small, concentrated berries which produce rich red wines which are full bodied and able to be aged for extending periods. Hand tended, sorted, naturally fermented, hand plunged and pumped over to extract the perfect balance of colour, flavour and tannin. Aged in new and old French and American Hogshead barrels for up to 24 months.

Intense dark berries - cherry and plum at the forefront with layered notes of dark chocolate, spice and liquorice.

Full bodied palate with dark berry flavours of cherry and plum whilst dark chocolate, mocha, earth and spice provide complexity. Velvety smooth mouth feel balanced by a touch of tannin and lovely lingering elegant oak finish.
